The Lillie Langtry Signature Suite

Room description: 39 sqm (420 sq ft). Lillie Langtry posed for pre-Raphaelite artists Sir Edward Burne Jones and Sir Everett Millais. She was a Victorian superstar of the West End and Broadway stage, mistress of the future King of England and became an American citizen in 1897 purchasing a 4000 acre Californian vineyard. Lillie lived at 21 Pont Street from 1892 to 1897. In 1895 the building became part of the Cadogan Hotel, but Lillie continued to stay in her old bedroom at the hotel. You will understand why Lillie Langtry felt so attached to this beautiful and remarkable room which the Cadogan has maintained lovingly for over a century. The room exudes feminine grace and Victorian beauty with a stage-siren allure in the pretty pastel decor. Indisputably the Capital's most seductive suite.

Today the room recalls its most famous former guest with an appropriately decadent design. Sky-blue and rich-chocolate walls give way to silk curtains and a velvet headboard. Light floods this exquisite room from three large windows overlooking fashionable Cadogan Place, the view little changed since Oscar Wilde's era and no doubt often gazed upon by the playwright in a moment of reflection.
